Clearly, our first pick is from Dewalt. They have some different heat guns models and all of them are good. Almost every blog recommends DeWalt heat guns. My first pick as the best heat gun is this digital heat gun with LCD Display called “DEWALT D26960K Heavy Duty Heat Gun”.

The LCD screen will help you a lot, especially if you are working with sensitive objects. The LCD display not only shows you the exact temperature that the heat gun is blowing at that very moment but at the same time, you can change the temperature with 50-degree increments.

There are some other models that allow you 10-degree increment, but the 50-degree increments will do just fine if you are not working with objects that need an exact temperature[e.g. computer parts]

Basically, heat guns blow hot air, except for the object you intend to heat, the parts inside due to high temperature tend to heat as well.  That may cause the parts inside to get damaged and never work again [that’s the number one reason why low-quality heat guns stop working after you just used them].

But luckily this model comes with Built-in overload protection. This feature will shut down the heat gun automatically if the parts inside are heated too much. This will protect the parts inside and you will be able to use it again once the parts cool down.

It has a great design that fits in your hand perfectly, and a lightweight body [weights 2.3 lbs] that will allow you to work for hours without getting tired. It also has built-in innovative kickstand support that will offer you better stability and at the same time, it protects the heat gun from tipping over.

The temperature range is from 150 to 1100-Degree F. It has cord protection that will protect the cord from tearing away. Except for the heat gun, you will also get 12 common accessories [nozzles] that will help you use the heat gun from small projects to big projects. And also will get a kit box as well for easy storage.

If you are in a hurry here are the pros and cons of this heat gun model!

Pros:

  • LCD Display – Shows you the exact temperature and also allows to increase the temperature by 50-degrees.
  • Built-in overload protection – Shuts down the heat gun if the parts inside start to heat up and prevent the heat gun from burning.
  • Built-in innovative kickstand support – Gives the heat gun stability especially when you lay it down to free your hands.
  • Big Temperature Range – 150 to 1100 Degree F.
  • Lightweight – Weights 2.3 lbs.

Cons:
  • Only offers 50-degree temperature increments – There are models that offer 10-degree temperature increments.

Our second pick is this great digital heat gun “TR Industrial 1700W Digital Heat Gun Kit”. It comes with an LCD display that shows the exact temperature that the heat gun is blowing at that very moment. Except for the temperature is also shows you different settings such as memory settings, fan speed settings, etc. It also has buttons near the LCD display that allow you to change different settings.

This model comes with good temperature control, it allows you to increase or decrease the temperature by 20-degrees, except for the temperature control it also allows you to choose between 5 different fan speeds. The temperature range goes from 120-degrees to 1200-degrees F.

It has a really good feature that I personally like a lot, the easy access memory.  What this feature basically does is that it allows you to save up to 4 different heating and fan settings. So, once you start your heat gun you can choose one of these four settings to work with [You can also choose none]. Extremely helpful especially if you are working with same objects daily.  Saves you a lot of time and you can even replace the four settings with different settings once you are done.

The Built-in overheating protection protects the heat gun from over-heating. So if somehow the parts inside get heated to the point that they can get damaged this feature kicks in and automatically stops the heat gun until the parts cool down.

It has an integrated stand that you can use if you have to use both hands. This feature allows you to put the heat gun on its back safely. It has a 1700W motor that heats fast so you need to be careful with it. Except for the heat gun, the package also contains different nozzles [fan nozzle, glass protector nozzle, and three other nozzles], putty knife and a handheld scraper [that can be used mostly for paint removal].

If you are in a hurry here are the pros and cons of this heat gun model!

Pros:

  • LCD Display – Shows you the exact temperature and different settings also has buttons that allow you to change different settings.
  • Easy Memory Settings – Allow you to save up to four different heating and fan speed settings that you can use later.
  • Temperature control – You can increase or decrease the temperature by 20-degrees.
  • Build-in Overheating protection – Prevent the heat from burning.
  • Integrated stand – You can put the heat gun on its back and use both hands safely.

Cons

  • Sometimes to save a memory setting you need to turn off and turn on the tool.

This heat gun has been first introduced to the market in 1958, and still, a lot of people buy and use it. Why? Because it’s a quality heat gun. Clearly there are few changes from the 1958 model [ I think], but still, that doesn’t change the fact that this heat gun is quality.

This heat gun doesn’t come with in-build overload protection but that doesn’t matter because this model is made to last in different work environments, and if somehow the parts inside get damaged then you don’t have to worry. The heating parts and the motor brushes can be easily replaced.

This heat gun, except for small project can also be used for industrial projects. It weighs 3.7 lbs, and it’s the heaviest heat gun that we have listed here. But that doesn’t matter since this model has a rubber-base back that makes it possible for you to lay the heat gun on it’s back and use your hands. I usually do this when I need both hands to hold the object I’m heating and there’s no one to hold it for me. Extremely helpful. But you also can put it on its back to rest your hands

It comes with a 6ft hose that it’s flexible and resistant to sunlight and oil. It comes with three temperature ranges. The temperature goes up to 1000-degrees F.

It’s extremely durable. It’s actually made to last for a long time.  There are people that I work with that have this model for more than 20 years, so there’s that. It has a rugged cast that is made from aluminum that can be used for heavy duty heating projects.

If you are in a hurry here are the pros and cons of this heat gun model!

Pros:

  • Durable – Extremely durable, you will be set for years if you buy this one.
  • Replaceable parts – The heating parts and the motor brushes can be replaced if somehow they get damaged.
  • Rubber-Base Back -You can put the heat gun on its back to rest your hand or to use two hands while working,
  • Three temperature ranges – The temperature goes up to 1000-degrees
  • 6ft Hose

Cons:

  • Doesn’t have an LCD display
  • Pricey – Costs a little more than the other models.

This heat gun uses a different technology to improve the quality or at least that’s what they claim to do. But in overall it’s a quality heat gun that can be used for different heating projects.

It comes with an LCD display that will show you the temperature the heat gun is blowing and it also will show the wind speed. Also, it has four buttons near the LCD display that will allow you to adjust the temperature and to increase or decrease the airflow size.

It has a power-on memory feature that remembers the last temperature setting you used and it automatically shows you, you can choose to use that temperature setting without having to set it up again. Therefore it saves u a lot of time.

The temperature range goes from 122-degrees F to 1200-degrees F. It fully heats up [to 1200-degrees F] for 3 to 5 seconds, this will save you a lot of time but at the same time, you have to be careful because you may harm yourself.

This one too has Built-in overheat protection, this will automatically shut down the heat gun that will prevent the parts inside to burn and get damaged.

If you are in a hurry here are the pros and cons of this heat gun model!

Pros:

  • LCD Display – Shows the temperature and also the wind speed.
  • Four Buttons near LCD – Buttons allow you to control the temperature by adjusting it and also allow you to control the airflow size.
  • Power-on Memory – Remembers the last temperature settings and makes it possible for you to choose that setting once you start the heat gun again.
  • Big Temperature range – 122-degrees F to 1200-degrees F.
  • Built-in overheat protection – Protect the heat gun.

Cons

  • Sometimes the power-on memory doesn’t work.

More detailed review ↴

This is more of a basic heat gun. It doesn’t have an LCD display or anything fancy but it will do its job. I usually use this one for paint removal and thawing pipes but you can use it for different projects as well.

It offers two temperatures that you can choose. The 750-degree F temperature and the 1000-degree F  temperature. It has a switch on the handle that allows you to easily change the temperature from one to another.  I use the first temperature settings [750-degree F] to bend materials and remove flooring, and I use the second temperature settings [ 1000-degree F ] to remove paint, etc.

It has a great design and a lightweight body that will allow you to work for hours. It also comes with a hook that makes it possible for you to hang the heat gun somewhere until you rest your hand. I usually use hand it for smoke pauses.

It comes with Corrosion resistant nozzle and two fan speeds that will somehow allow you to control the heating.  It’s a 1,200-watt heat gun. It doesn’t have any safety protection or in-build protection so you have to be careful and not work with it for hours without stopping, because you may harm the parts inside.

This is more for “Home-owners” and for DIY’s, I don’t recommend it using for industrial heating projects. This is more of a heat gun to have around your house to fix little things.  It’s a great affordable choice.

If you are in a hurry here are the pros and cons of this heat gun model!

Pros

  • Two temperature settings – 750-degrees  and 1000-degrees F.
  • Temperature Switch – It has a switch on the handle that makes it possible for you to choose one temperature or the other.
  • Two Fan Speeds –  That you can use to control the heating.
  • Lightweight Body – Allows you to hold it for hours without fatigue.
  • Hook – It comes with an integrated hook that can be used to hang the tool somewhere.

Cons

  • Basic heat gun – Can only be used for small and medium tasks. It doesn’t have an LCD display or anything else to control the temperature.

Heat Gun Buyers Guide

Before buying a heat gun you have to know what they are first, right? You can understand what heat guns are pretty easy by just reading our posts. But, choosing the right heat gun for you is the hard part. You can find one that fits your work needs but that is really expensive for you. That's why we have listed our top 5 best heat guns for the money, to help you find the best quality heat guns that fit your needs.

Now that we have shown you the best heat guns you are probably asking yourself which one of these is the best heat gun so you can buy it. But no worries, we have made a great buyers guide that will show you exactly which one is the right fit for you.

You have to keep in mind that all the heat guns do the same job. They blow hot air through the nozzle and heat objects. But what makes heat guns to compare to each other is the tasks that they can be used for, how much control do they allow to the users and if they are durable or not.

Clearly, heat guns that are durable and have different features are better than basic heat guns.  There are three different heat guns: Electric, Gas Powered, Industrial.

Electric:  Electric heat guns are the most used one. In fact, all the models we have listed here are electric. They have a cord but there are cordless models too. They heat fast and they can be used for different tasks. There are a lot of different electric models that you can choose from.
Gas Powered: This type of heat guns usually use a butane-filled fuel cell. They are more portable than an electric heat gun. The only time I use this type of heat guns is if I’m working somewhere that doesn’t have electricity. There are a lot of different gas powered heat gun models that you can choose from.
Industrial: These type of heat guns are bigger and more powerful than a normal heat gun. They are more used for industrial jobs and they are more expensive. A thing that makes industrial heat guns better is that they are more durable than normal heat guns are. At least for my experience.  There are a lot of different models that you can choose from. Actually, our number #3 on our list is an industrial heat gun.

How to use heat guns?

You need the best adjustable temperature heat gun in order to work with sensitive objects. They are really helpful since you can choose what temperature you want the heat gun to blow. In this way, you can save the object from burning.Heat guns can be used for different tasks. Start from removing paint to helping you change your iPhone screen. The opportunities are endless. You just have to be a little creative and you will find yourself using a heat gun for almost everything.

Since heat guns blow hot air that means that they can harm you. So, before learning how to use them you need to learn how to safely use them. Therefore we have made a short guide down below that will explain to you how to use a heat gun safely.

Since there are so many projects that you can use heat guns that means that we can’t explain how to use a heat gun for each of these projects. Therefore we will teach you how to use a heat gun while removing paint since this is the most common task people use a heat gun for.

Removing paint is an easy task, but except for a good heat gun, you also need a glass protector nozzle [ if there’s any window near the object ] and a putty knife. Once you have these three tools you can start removing paint.

With one hand you are going to hold the heat gun [ with the glass protector nozzle atached] and with the other hand, you will have to hold the putty knife.

Start the heat gun and leave it to heat for a few seconds. I usually use a medium temperature but you can read your model’s manual to know what’s the perfect temperature for this task. Once the heat gun is heated up, start to direct the hot air into the place you want to remove the paint from.

Keep the heat gun about 4 inches away from the object.  Don’t hold the heat gun for more than 2 seconds at the same place or you may harm it. While heating up the object try to scrape the paint with the putty knife. It may be a long process but this is the only way to remove paint from wood objects.

Heat Guns Safety Tips

You can have the best heat guns in the world but if you don't know how to safely use them, then you won't need them. Since heat guns can be a very dangerous tool that means that you have to learn how to safely use a heat gunHeat guns are useful tools. As I said before you can use it for different projects and surely it will help you complete any task faster and better. But that doesn’t mean that they can’t harm you, right? Since they blow really hot air, somewhere near 1200-1300-degrees F that means that automatically this tool can be dangerous if you don’t know how to use it.

Luckily for you, we use heat guns on a daily basis so we may know a thing or two on how to use heat gun safely.

If you got harmed by using a heat gun then don’t worry. I did it too. I even made a post on my blog about my first experience with heat guns that you can read.

Heat guns can be very dangerous, especially for your skin. Since they blow hot air that means that the air should never be in contact with your or anyone else’s skin. You can and you will burn your skin permanently. To avoid all this you can follow these safety tips that will help and teach you to how to protect you and others when using a heat gun.

The first thing you need to do is to have safety gears.

Safety Gears

When I say Safety Gears I mean: Safety Goggles and gloves. There are more safety gears that you can use to protect yourself but these two are the most important ones.

Using gloves is really important, especially if you are working with heat guns that don’t have temperature control. They will heat so much that you can’t even touch them. And if you need to change the nozzles while the heat gun is still on then gloves are a “must” or else you will burn your skin while touching the hot nozzle.

And wearing safety goggles is important especially if you are old paint from walls. You want to protect your eyes from anything that may harm them while scraping the paint.

Location Check

Choosing the right place to work is the first thing you should do before starting your heat gun. It is highly recommended to work outside if the object you are working with can be moved. But if for some reasons you can’t work outside and you are forced to work inside then you have to be careful. Try choosing a place where there’s no sensitive object near that can be harmed.

And last but not least, never try to check the temperature by putting your hand near the nozzle and never direct the hot air to your skin or to someone else’s. Guaranteed burn.

Follow these simple tips and you will complete your task without harming yourself or anyone else.

What are heat guns?

If you never used or saw a heat gun then choosing one is kinda hard. You don't know what features you need and you don't know which models are best for you. But we will make it easier for you to choose since we will list the top 5 best heat guns that we have ever used for different projects.

Heat guns are very important tools to have around your house. You may never know when you need them. They can be used for different things, you can use heat guns to remove paint, thaw frozen pipes, remove stickers from objects, help you replace an iPhone screen, etc.

The opportunities are endless. But they can be used for industrial tasks as well. Actually, there are models that are made for industrial work such as the “Master Appliance Master HG Series Heat Gun” which is #3 in our list for the best heat guns.

What makes these heat guns special is that they are more durable and they are made to be used for different working environments. In overall, heat guns are not that hard to use. But still, you may need a little experience with them.

There are different models that have different features. But the basic heat guns have a fan inside them and an ON/OFF switch. You just turn them ON, wait a few minutes for the heat gun to heat and then you direct the hot air to the object that needs to get heated and once you are done you turn the heat gun OFF and wait for it to cool down and you put it back to its place. Easy as that.

Note: Although heat guns and hair driers are similar that doesn’t mean that you can use one for the other job. Maybe you can use a hair drier to heat something, but never and I mean never use a heat gun to dry your hair.

Conclusion
