Sanders are used a lot. They are mostly used for woodworking, but they are not limited to. There are different types of sanders – palm sanders, orbital sanders, belt sander, and most importantly drywall sander. By the name of it, you can probably guess why they are called “drywall sanders”.
If not then let me explain – they are called drywall sanders because they are specially made to be used for walls.
Drywalling can be hard, but with the right tools and guidance, you will get the results you want. If you decide to sand your drywall then prepare for a huge mess, lose a lot of time and spend some money on tools. But, all this is worth it in the end when you see the difference you made.
Why should you sand drywall?
I heard this question a lot. Why should you sand walls when you can just paint them? It is true that you can just paint the walls, but the results you will get won’t be good. If you are looking to get the best results possible then sanding your drywall is very important.
Usually, this process is done when you are painting your house. But, to give you a better answer – here are some reasons on why you should sand drywall;
Makes the walls cleaner
I’m sure that no one has clean walls, most of the walls are dirty, uneven and have visible scratches. So, if you decide to just paint over you will see that the paint won’t be displayed accurately.
But, if you decide to sand drywall then you will get a stainless surface and overall the walls will look better.

Saves you money
I know that you will spend money on buying a drywall sander, but in the long run, it will save you a lot of money. As I mentioned before, most of our walls are uneven and come with a lot of deep scratches. So, in order to cover these scratches, you will need to put more layers of paint.
That means that you will have to spend more money on buying more paint, add to this the time you will be losing to add the other layers of paint. Plus in the end, you will probably not get the results you wanted. So, a drywall sander can be expensive, but in the long run, not only will save you money but also it will save you a lot of time.
Dry-walling might take you some time, but in the end, you will be happy that you did it. If you don’t have enough money to buy a drywall sander then you can use your hands and sandpaper to do the same process, but this is only recommended if you are dealing with a small surface.
If you are dealing with a large surface then using sandpaper to do this isn’t suggested, you will lose a lot of time, you will be tired and the chances that you will mess up the wall are high.
