One of the best if not the best heat gun we have ever used is the “DEWALT D26960 LCD”. It’s just great in every aspect. The best thing about this tool is that it has an LCD display which shows you all the settings and the temperature.

Except for that, it also remembers the last temperature settings you used. The heat gun wasn’t heavy, and it heats up within 30-40 seconds.

This heat gun allows you to increase the temperature by 50-degrees each time you click the button. This feature helped us a lot, and it will help you too if you work with different materials. The button is located under the LCD Display.

It’s perfect for removing paint not only because of temperature control but also because of the design which is very comfortable to hold for hours.

The temperature goes from 150° to 1100° F, but it also has an in-built protector which prevents elements from burning if the temperature is too high.

What We Liked:

  • An LCD display that shows you the exact temperature
  • You can increase your temperature by just clicking the button (50 degrees each time you increase it)
  • Comfortable and good design
  • Fast heating
  • Temperature Control
  • Temperature range: from 150° to 1100°
  • Remembers the temperature you used last time (which is good if you are heating the same object)
  • Comes with a built-in kickstand.

What We Didn’t Like:

  • 50-degree increaments: Some other heat guns offer 20-degree increaments.

You can read more about this model in our DeWalt heat gun review post

The “TR Industrial 1700W Digital” has a large LCD screen which lets you control the tool easier, you can control it with only one hand, the LCD display gives you the opportunity to adjust the temperature really easily by just clicking the buttons near it.

The increment goes up to 20 degrees each time and at the same time, you can see what is the temperature at that very moment on the LCD screen.

The temperature range of this kit is from 120 degrees to 1200 degrees and you can choose between five fan speeds. Inside it has in-build overheat protection which protects the tool from overheating which may cause permanent damage to the tool!

I loved a lot of features on this tool but one of the best was the “Memory Settings” that allows you to save up to 4 custom settings including temperature/fan settings where you can use them the next time you use the tool!

On the downside, sometimes we had to turn off/on the heat gun to change the memory settings.

What We Liked:

  • LCD Screen Display
  • Digital Control ( which allow you to adjust the temperature by just clicking buttons (20 degrees increments)
  • Temperature range: from 120 degrees to 1200 degrees
  • In-build overheat protection
  • Memory Settings (where you can save up to 4 custom settings including temperature/fan settings where you can use them the next time you use the tool)
  • Except for the tool and bad you get a lot of other things ( Nozzles, knife, glass protector etc)
  • Cool Down Mode

What We Didn’t Like:

  • Sometimes you have to turn off and then on again so you can change the memory settings!

If you are looking for a quality long-life heat gun then this is the one. This brand has been making heat guns since 1959 and are still on the market because they are that good.

The “Master HG Series Heat Gun” has a very powerful high-speed motor that has three temperature ranges, it operates on 120 & 220 V. Before buying it you can choose the temperature range you want, from 200-300(120V & 220)degrees to 750-100(120V & 220) degrees (Overall 8 choices including 300-500(120V & 220),500-750(120V & 220)).

I have used this heat gun to remove paint at the highest temperature. The process went smooth, and I was able to remove the paint I wanted. The heat gun does take a while until it’s cooled down, but it comes with a feature that blows cold air to help that speed up.

This feature doesn’t help that much when the heat gun is at the highest temperature, but it’s very effective when using low/medium temperature. The temperature change is also pretty easy on this model, to change the temperature range you only have to rotate the air intake and it will switch to low or high heat.

The thing I liked most about this heat gun is its design. It comes with a large rear attached which helps you rest your hands sometimes and it’s very stable when you put it down to cool down

What We Liked:

  • Long Life
  • Blows cold air to cool down the heat gun faster
  • Temperature adjustment easy (by just rotating the air intake)
  • Good design(you can lay it on its back since it has a large rear attached)
  • A lot of heat range choices when buying

What We Didn’t Like:

  • Doesn’t come with a box
  • Doesn’t come with nozzles

If you never used a heat gun and you don’t need temperature control then this is a good one, especially for newbies.

This model comes with 2 different temperature settings 750 degrees and 1000 degrees. It’s a pretty lightweight tool that makes it easy to hold on your hand for hours, it’s mostly for removing paint or any basic job. It heats up pretty fast and it works on 120 volts.

It doesn’t have any “Cooldown” mode but it has a good design where you can lay it on its back and wait to be fully cooled down.

The brand ” Black and Decker” is a good brand and has some good quality products where this heat gun is one of them. You can use this tool for things such as Shrink Wrapping, Drying Paint, Paint Stripping, and a lot of other things!

What We Liked:

  • Lightweight!
  • 2 Temperature Settings : (750 degree / 1000 degree)

What We Didn’t Like:

  • Doesn’t come with any accessories!
  • Doesn’t have “Cooldown” mode!

Another good tool is this heat gun called “Genesis GHG1500A Dual Temperature”, it’s a very lightweight gun which only weighs 1 pound (1,4 with cord) it’s a pretty good tool for its price, it heats really fast and gets the job done!

I really like the design of this tool because it allows me to lie down securely on its back when I need to rest my hands, or if I’m doing a two-hand job (the air intake is on the sides). It comes with different nozzles that help you aim the heat better (4 Nozzles).

This heat gun has a very powerful motor (12.5 Amp) that delivers heat with 750 and 1500 Watt settings. It has 2 heat settings (low and high), the low one goes up to 572 degrees and the high one goes to 1000 degrees.

What We Liked:

  • Affordable
  • Lightweight
  • Good Design ( You can lay it on its back if you need to rest your hands)

  • 2 heat settings low & high (572, 1000)
  • Comes with 4 different nozzles

  • Two Modes (Cold, Hot )
  • Durable
  • LightWeight

My Overall Rating

One of our favorite heat guns we have used is this one called “The Weller 6966C”, when you first look at it you probably won’t be impressed, this heat gun may look old but the only reason that it looks old is that they have been making these heat guns for decades now and its so good that is still on market.

It’s very lightweight but it has a very powerful fan inside it, it comes with 5 different nozzles where you can use them for different tasks. This tool is mostly for small tasks but it can be used for bigger tasks too and it runs just on 250 watts which is good if energy consumption is a problem for you.

The fan inside is very quiet and cool during the time you are using it. This “The Weller 6966C” has two modes, one mode will blow hot air when you want to shrink plastic or for something else, and the other mode is that it will blow cold ambient air.

The “cold air” mode is mostly used when you want to turn off the heat gun because it will help to cool the nozzles and the heat gun faster before packing it!

On the downside, it doesn’t come with temperature adjustments.

What We Liked:

  • Lightweight
  • Comes with 5 different nozzles
  • It has 2 modes (Hot, Cold)the second mode will help you cool the fan faster if you are in a hurry!
  • Life-Long Heat gun (you won’t probably need another heat gun until the next decade!)
  • Uses only 250 Watts

What We Didn’t Like:

  • You cannot select exact temperatures
  • Mostly for small and medium tasks (but it can be used for big tasks too if you have patience)

Tips For Using A Heat Gun For Stripping Paint

Removing paint can be a hard project. To do it as better and fast as possible you need the best heat guns to remove paint. We made a list of the best ones we have ever used and we shared it with you guys for free.

Usually, the heat gun temperature goes up to 1,000 degrees. Like we mentioned before heat guns can be very dangerous if you don’t know how to use them, and especially if you don’t take any safety precautions they can cause permanent damages on objects or even on people skins.

When you start the heat gun is recommended to wait at least 45 seconds for the heat gun to heat, if you try to use it before reaching an optimal temperature it can make your job a lot harder, and it can damage your object/work and it will make your heat gun ineffective.

When a heat gun reaches its temperature never direct the hot air to your face/body or to anyone else’s body or face because it can cause burns to your skin. Most of the heat guns come with different nozzles which helps you do different tasks, make sure to attach the nozzle on a heat gun before turning it on and not on mid-job.

Sometimes you have to change the nozzle to do another job when this time comes, make sure you don’t touch the nozzle with your hand while the heat gun is still ON, make sure to wait a few minutes for the heat gun to cool down so you can change the nozzle. Depending on what you need to do, you need different nozzles, if you need the heat gun for stripping paint recommended to use Wide nozzles, and if you need to localize the heat on a specific area then it’s recommended to use smaller nozzles. After you have done your job with the heat gun make sure to wait a few minutes so it can cool down before you pack it away.

If you ever try to block the heat gun’s inlet grills it will shorten its lifespan and it may overheat the heat gun and cause the heat gun to burn out and it may catch fire. You can read more tips here
